How-To: Multi-Stained Concrete

It can sometimes be hard to make your home stand out if you live in one of the newer tract home communities in Rocklin or Roseville. A stained concrete patio or driveway is a great way to increase the curb appeal of your home, and will help it to stand out.  But with so many concrete color choices these days, it can be hard to choose just one!  Now you don’t have to!

Using two colors to stain your concrete is a great way to add depth and uniqueness to your project.  To achieve a fantastic looking multicolored concrete job, here is how we at MBJ Concrete do it:

Once your concrete is poured and in place, throw or cast your base color on, and float the concrete. As you do so you will start to see voids, areas where the color is lighter than the rest. Throw your second color onto these voids, and continue this process until the desired color combination is achieved.

If you are leaving your concrete smooth, then you are now done and just need to let your concrete set. If, however, you are going to stamp your concrete, now is the time to throw your release onto the concrete, and stamp out your chosen pattern.
